This game unfortunately was all about one refereeing decision – a really scandalous decision.
We all know referees have a tough job, but when they give goals that clearly haven’t crossed the line, well, you really wonder what is going on in football.
Didier Drogba scored a wonderful volleyed goal just before half time, it was tough on Spurs who had looked the most likely to take the lead.
A few minutes into the second half, Chelsea were 2-0 up when referee Martin Atkinson thought he saw Juan Mata’s shot cross the line – obviously it didn’t.
Gareth Bale did get a goal back tapping the ball home after Emmanuel Adebayor was brought down in the area. It could have been a penalty with Petr Cech being sent off, but with Bale scoring, the referee played on.
As Spurs looked to get the equaliser they became more and more open and so Chelsea added to the scoreline with Ramires scoring in the 77th minute, Frank Lampard in the 81st minute with a spectacular free-kick and Florent Malouda in the 90th, to give Chelsea a 5-1 victory.
Chelsea now meet Liverpool in the final of the FA Cup next month.
