Well I’m not quite panicking just yet, but certainly this isn’t the start of the season I envisaged. Two defeats in the space of a few days isn’t great either.
I always felt the Sunderland away was a potential banana skin, and a winning goal by Chopra in the fourth minute of injury time proved that.
Then Everton at home was always going to be tricky, as shown when they stole a win last season at White Hart Lane.
I know we have a have lot of injuries, which is ridiculous at this stage of the season, but Martin Jol needs to choose his best team and stick with it, meaning sticking with his best two strikers and playing players in their best positions – not playing Robbie Keane as a winger!
I’ve noticed fans already calling for his head, but patience is needed. I learned from following the Yankees that you can have a very bad string of results but still turn things around, so it’s best to calm down and get behind the team.
We have Derby County at home at the weekend. Here’s hoping for a better result!
I agree (with everything except the Yankees bit). Patience is needed but Jol needs to stick with a team. Granted the back line is the shambles right now, but it’s already clear that with Lennon injured the midfield lacks width and class.
That being said when will Jol give Taarabt a run? With all the injuries I would rather see him in midfield than playing Robbie Keane as a winger. And when is Jenas going to fulfill his potential. Before this gets any more negative I’m going to cut myself off and try and find some patience.
Unbelievable start to the campaign.
