Spurs January Swoops

January is a month famous for its sales but in football, it is also known for last ditch attempts at finding the latest club savior or a bargain bucket delight that has slipped through the net.

However, it is also known for panic buying and more often than not, clubs have gotten it wrong more than they have got it right in the mid-season transfer window.

That’ said, the window should not be ignored and with Mourinho at the helm, this January transfer window is the Portuguese’s first chance at testing Daniel Levy purse strings with some names continuing to pop up in the Spurs rumour mill.

Dayot Upamecano

RB Leipzig’s rise from nothing ten years ago to leading Bundesliga today has been nothing short of remarkable and because of that, plenty of Leipzig stars are being courted by the biggest clubs in Europe.

One of those players on Tottenham’s radar is defender Dayot Upamecano. The 21-year-old Frenchman has been ever present for RB since transferring from RB Salzburg in 2017 and it is believed the Lilywhites are about to lodge a £50 million bid for the soon to be French star.

Vedat Muriqi

Fenerbache star forward Vedat Muriqi has been enjoying a purple patch of late in the Turkish top flight and has netted 10 goals in 17 games.

The Kosovo international has also netted eight goals in the 23 appearances for his national side and at 25 would be viewed as a useful back up option to Harry Kane.

Nathan Ake

There are faint smatterings f runour going around that Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake is a target for Mourinho to sure up his leaky defence.

The former Chelsea man has really kicked his career on since joining Bournemouth in 2017 with an impressive goal return of seven in 92 in the Premier League from defence.

The highly rate 24-year-old has also become a Holland regular over the last two years due to his performances and a move up the ladder is not far away – and hopefully to Spurs.
