Late last night the news broke that Moussa Sissoko had opted to join Tottenham for a fee believed to be £30m and snatch the French International from under the noses of Everton.

Depending on which Sissoko decides to turn up at White Hart Lane could define the outcome of the current campaign for Spurs, who are 20/1 to win the EPL according to the betting odds.

After last season’s late capitulation when they looked like they had a very real chance of claiming their first league title since 1960/61, Spurs will be very keen to ensure they do not take a step back.

The signings of Sissoko, Wanyama, Nkoudou and Vincent Janssen in the summer transfer window has added strength in depth to a squad which has appeared short of quality outside the starting eleven in recent seasons.

With the Champions League to contend with this year the above four will prove vital to Tottenham’s chances of success this season.

How have they done so far?

Spurs currently sit 7th in the table and are unbeaten in their 3 games so far. Not a bad way to start especially as they have not had the easiest of run ins.

An opening day 1-1 draw at Goodison Park can surely be seen as a positive and you feel most fans would have been happy with that at the start of the day, especially after Ross Barkley put Everton ahead early on.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino will have been delighted to have seen the fight back in his side as Erik Lamela equalised for the Lilywhites in the 59th minute to head back to London with a well-deserved point.

The second game of the season saw Spurs get their home campaign under way and it proved to be fruitful, as a late Victor Wanyama goal secured all three points for Pochettino’s men against an out of form Crystal Palace.

In a tight game it was the new signings who were the headline acts. Victor Wanayama grabbed the winner but is was new striker Janssen who impressed the most with an accomplished home debut after his move from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.

Last time out, Liverpool were the visitors to ‘The Lane’. Over the years this fixture has proved to be a wealth of entertainment and after Liverpool had already put four past Arsenal earlier on in the season, this match had goals written all over it.

However, it was not quite to be, although both sides did get on the scoresheet in an unspectacular 1-1 draw.

A James Milner penalty put Liverpool ahead just before the break, but Spurs once again showed their steel by coming from behind to snatch a point thanks to a 72nd minute Danny Rose strike to maintain Tottenham’s unbeaten run.

Who’s up Next?

After the international break Spurs face a busy September with a trip to Stoke next up in the league before Monaco head to White Hart Lane for their opening Champions’ League Group E fixture.

Tottenham have made a very solid start to the season and the additions will prove pivotal if they are to maintain their current upward trend especially with the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea looking like they are back to where they belong.

Late last night the news broke that Moussa Sissoko had opted to join Tottenham for a fee believed to be £30m and snatch the French […]

[7

post-831","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-tottenham-hotspur
