Tottenham Hotspur continued hitting in the goals when they beat Swansea City 3-1 at White Hart Lane.

The first half was all Spurs, making chance after chance, leaving Brad Friedel pretty much a spectator.

Gareth Bale had another fine game playing more wide than of late and was involved in the opening goal. The 22-year old got onto a wonderful through ball down the left from Luka Modric, he crossed towards Emmanuel Adebayor, the ball was deflected to Rafael van der Vaart, who just side footed the ball into the back of the net. 1-0 to the home side.

Bale also had a few shots, one just outside the area after a fluffed Sandro cross-shot, unfortunately he fired over. The winger had another shot following a Benoit Assou-Ekotto cross, Modric challenged, somehow the ball came to Bale just inside the box, but his near post shot went over.

In the second half it was all change. Swansea started very much in control.

Gylfi Sigurdsson had a shot saved that hit post, and soon followed that up in the 59th minute with an equaliser that he’d hit into the ground.

Bale was much involved in the second half. he crossed for van der Vaart, whose header was saved near post. The Welshman also crossed for Adebayor but the cross was cut out and cleared before the striker could tap home what looked like an easy finish.

Spurs did regain the lead though in the 73rd minute as Adebayor finally got his goal. The on-loan Manchester City striker rose above the Swansea defenders and headed home a van der Vaart corner.

The best Bale moment of the match was when he received the ball out wide and ran at the heart of the defence, going by four Swansea players. He collided with a defender in the penalty area though, but the ball came to Modric, whose shot was blocked.

Another quality Bale moment was when he charged from the halfway line to just outside the area, he shot at goal, but it was parried by the ‘keeper. Spurs winger Aaron Lennon then took the ball wide, crossed, and there was Adebayor yet again with a header. 3-1.

Spurs are now joint third with Arsenal with only a goal separating them.

Next up for Spurs is a visit to Sunderland on Saturday. Kick off is at 12:45.
