With Tottenham Hotspur playing so well and Wigan Athletic not playing so well, a big score line was expected at White Hart Lane. That didn’t happen but Spurs had the chances and should have got closer to the 9-1 victory they had over Wigan two years ago.

\nGareth Bale scored the opener following a wonderful chipped ball into the Welshman’s path, he chested it down and hooked a shot into the back of the net.<\/p>\n
Midfield maestro Modric put Spurs 2-0 up when the ball rebounded to him on the edge of the area. The Croatian controlled the ball, then belted it passed Wigan’s ‘keeper Ali Al-Habsi.<\/p>\n
The third goal, again by Gareth Bale, was fantastic, He received the ball from Spurs left-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto just outside the area, then worked a better a angle before shooting into the far corner passed helpless Al-Habsi.<\/p>\n
Wigan did get a goal back through James McArthur, mainly due to poor defending and a deflection. But it was Spurs and Gareth Bale’s day, who thoroughly deserved the three points.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
