Spurs have been solidly in the top half of the Premier League table for much of the last decade, and despite not yet challenging for a Premier League title, they came close to the Champions League a couple of seasons ago.

With eight games played, Spurs have had a solid start to the 2020-21 season and remain in contention for the title or, at least, a top-four spot. Of course, a lot can change between now and the spring, but fans have plenty to be happy about as we head towards Christmas.

Between now and then, the lily whites will face a number of touch challengers, including most of the teams that sit above them in the Premier League table. For fans of sports betting at sites like https://www.stsbet.co.uk, these will close games so you’ll want to keep an eye on the odds and they will likely change frequently.

Manchester City – 21st November

Spurs will host recent league champions, Manchester City. After a lacklustre season last year, the sky blues have suffered a similar fate this season, picking up just three wins from their first six games. That includes a 5-2 loss against Leicester in September. They do have a couple of matches in hand compared to their rivals, but that’s not the full explanation.

City have seen wholesale changes to their squad during the summer, which means there are teething problems as they begin to bed-in as a team. This could be an opportunity for Spurs to capitalise later this month.

Chelsea – 29th November

The following week, Spurs will travel to Stamford Bridge for the first of three London derbies for the club.

Chelsea sit above Spurs in the table at present, with an equal number of wins and draws, but a slightly higher goal difference. The two sides last went head to head in late September in the EFL Cup round of 16, with Spurs coming out on stop 5-4 on aggregate.

This will be a difficult fight though, with Chelsea likely the bookies’ favourite.

Arsenal – 5th December

The second of three London derbies in less than a month for Spurs, Arsenal will travel across the capital in early December. The Gunners have lost three of their first seven games, though these have all been against big Premier League clubs.

Most bookmakers haven’t released odds for this match yet, but it’s likely they’ll be fairly equal.

Crystal Palace – 19th December

Crystal Palace will be the third London side Spurs will face before Christmas. Playing away, it’s likely to be another close match but one that Tottenham stand a good chance of winning.

History is on their side too. Since 2016, Tottenham have won all but two of their games against Palace, with a single 2-0 loss in the 2019 FA Cup and a 1-1 draw in July this year.

There is a long way to go this season, but Spurs fans have some exciting games on the horizon. Wins in the games against City, Chelsea and Arsenal could be decisive in determining where the club finishes at the end of the season.

Spurs have been solidly in the top half of the Premier League table for much of the last decade, and despite not yet challenging for […]

[179

post-1747","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news
