Spurs’ push for silverware has come to ahead. Fans and pundits alike are becoming increasingly disgruntled at the lack of trophies, despite what is considered huge progress for the club under Mauricio Pochettino.

Poch himself has recently admitted they must win a competition for his development to be complete, and has a big seven days in his bid to do so. The club face off against PSV on Wednesday evening in a must win before a huge game against Manchester City next Monday evening and a League Cup tie at the London Stadium just two days later.

This current crop of players is arguably the finest Spurs team of the Premier League era, but who was lining up in the lilywhite the last time the club lifted some silverware, little over a decade ago?

Paul Robinson

Not quite Hugo Lloris, but Paul Robinson was a popular figure at White Hart Lane, none more so than when he scored against Watford in the Premier League.

He spent four years at Spurs, leaving the season after winning the League Cup. He hung his gloves up just last year and will likely be coming to an after-dinner stage near you very soon.

Alan Hutton

It’s fair to say Alan Hutton’s career hasn’t gone from strength to strength since lifting the League Cup in 2008. He’s currently playing his trade, and receiving abuse on a regular basis at Aston Villa.

He made just over 50 appearances for the club before being shipped out to Villa, where he’s remained ever since.

Jonathan Woodgate

Jonathan Woodgate’s currently on the coaching staff at Middlesbrough following a career that didn’t hit the lofty heights it perhaps should have.

He had the opportunity to become one of the true great defenders in English football when securing a move to Real Madrid. That never quite happened for him, returning home to Middlesbrough and eventually getting his career kick-started at Spurs.

Again, injury plagued his time at the club and he left after refusing to accept a deal on a pay-as-you-play deal.

Ledley King

It’s difficult to know what to say about Ledley. A real Spurs legend who could have been even more so if he hadn’t been so unlucky with injuries. If one Spurs captain deserved silverware it was King, who finally got his hands on some after over a decade at the club.

King remains a part of the Spurs furniture as an ambassador for the club.

Pascal Chimbonda

Pascal Chimbonda is currently playing for AFC Killingworth in the depths of the Bay Plastics Premier Division in Northumberland, a far cry from a decade ago when he was martialling the left flank at Wembley.

Since leaving Spurs in 2009 he’s had eight different clubs including Market Drayton Town and Washington FC, a former miners team in the North East.

Aaron Lennon

The only member of that 2008 squad who is still playing at the top level, Aaron Lennon is currently playing with Burnley after 10 years at Spurs and three at Everton. Now aged 31, he’s in the twilight of his career, winning 21 England caps in the process.

Jermaine Jenas

Jermaine Jenas has kept his profile high since retiring from the game in 2016, being a regular on the likes of BBC and BT Sport as well as recently becoming an ambassador with menswear retailer, Jacamo.

He cites the League Cup win as the highlight of his career alongside PFA Young Player of the Year which he picked up while playing for Newcastle.

Didier Zokora

Didier Zokora played over 130 times in the heart of the Spurs midfield before moving to Spanish giants Sevilla. He’s the Ivory Coast’s most capped player and is now back in his homeland as an assistant manager at AFAD Djekanou.

Steed Malbranque

Steed Malbranque will always be remembered as a fan favourite not only at Spurs, but at Fulham and Sunderland too.

The Frenchman spent 10 years in English football, the pinnacle being the League Cup in 2008. He moved back to France in 2011, spending time at Saint-Etienne, Lyon, Caen and MDA Chasselay before retiring at the end of last season.

Robbie Keane

Like Ledley King, Robbie Keane stands as one of the true greats at Spurs following 122 goals in just over 300 games for the club.

He’s yet to firmly retire from the game yet after a spell in the USA and most recently India, although the most recent rumours are suggesting he could take up a coaching role with the Irish national team.

Dimitar Berbatov

Dimitar Berbatov was a player of real quality during his time with Spurs, netting the equaliser in the League Cup Final. He scored 46 goals for the club in 102 games before moving to Manchester United where he added to his League Cup medal with two Premier League winners medals, another League Cup and the Club World Cup.
