Spurs manager Harry Redknapp is hopefully that Jonathan Woodgate will get a new contract at White Hart Lane. The 31-year-old’s current deal expires this summer.
Redknapp said: “Hopefully he will [be offered a new deal]. I want him to come back fit. He’s a great player.
“I would love to see him get his career back on track because when I came here two years ago he was one of the first names on the sheet, a different class. He is one of the best centre-backs around.”
The ex-Real Madrid defender came on in the 59th minute for injured Vedran Corluka, following the horrendous two-footed tackle on him by ex-Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini.
Even though Woodgate had been out for over a year, he looked like he hadn’t been away, so fingers crossed his serious injury problems are over and he can earn himself a new deal at Spurs.
