Bitter Chimbonda makes Spurs return

Whenever a player leaves Spurs, you hope they leave and get on with their careers, instead, some of them just can’t help themselves from having a dig at the manager or the club.

Pascal Chimbonda, now of Sunderland, visits White Hart Lane with his new team today. He said: “The situation at Tottenham is something I have never experienced and it’s not nice being out of the team.

“I wanted the manager [Juande Ramos] to talk to me to tell me what’s happened and tell me why I’m not in the team.

“[Sunderland manager] Roy Keane and Ramos are similar managers but Roy talks more to the players than Ramos did, because of the language barrier. I prefer having a manager like that.”

He added: “I’ve got a new team and I just need to play, I won’t think about Spurs.

“I’ve left but I don’t need to prove anything to anyone. I’m happy at Sunderland and I will just play my football because we’re progressing and can definitely do something big this season.

“Going to Spurs is a big test for us and it will be a good battle but we are capable of winning there.”
