Gareth Bale’s Tottenham Hotspur team-mate Rafael Van der Vaart says the 22-year-old Welshman should stay at White Hart Lane and continue improving his game.
Van der Vaart, who has played for top clubs like Ajax Amsterdam and Real Madrid, told the Daily Star: ‘He might need to go one day but for the moment it is about learning.
“His body is a machine, his skills are unbelievable and one day he might move to Barcelona or Madrid. But for the moment he must stay and learn more.
“We’ve already seen how he can turn games but he must play more big games and prepare himself for whatever the future might hold.
“Watching the likes of Gareth has confirmed I made the right decision leaving Madrid to come here. He is part of the new skilful, more technical approach to the Premier League.
“Teams like Swansea are showing where the game is going. It is a pleasure to be here. I play well when I am happy and I am very happy with Spurs. It was a dream for me to play for Real Madrid, now it is another dream for me to win the title with Spurs – and the FA Cup.”
