The Premier League has finally returned and we cannot wait for Manchester United and Tottenham to collide. Who will come out on top? Our friends at The Faithful MUFC have their say:
The three month break perhaps came at the right time for Tottenham. The north Londoners were out of form and only earned a single point in their last three games. In addition, more than a few key players were injured at that time. Now, the stars are back for Mourinho and they can push for Champions League qualification.
On the other hand, we were going through our best period since the permanent appointment of Solskjaer. We won three of our last four PL games and defeated the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City. Hopefully, the break would not halt our progress and the good thing is that our best player Rashford and record signing Pogba are back.
Three points for us may end Spurs’ chances of qualifying for the Europe’s elite competition, so, they really have to step up and they have definitely got stars who can trouble Man United. We take a look:
The England captain has been injured since January and in his absence, Tottenham have only won three out of eight league games. The two time PL Golden Boot winner is one of the best strikers in the world and his return to the side will give Mourinho a huge boost.
At his best, Kane can destroy United but coming back from a long term injury is not easy and we hope that lack of game time would work in our favor just like he was unable to perform100% in the CL final last year after returning from injury.
He was the best player under Pochettino last season and in all fairness, no one has been better than him at Tottenham even in the current campaign. The reigning Asian International Player of the Year is a complete forward. His pace is frightening and his finishing is lethal.
In his last three league appearances, he netted four goals but then a fractured arm halted his season. In 20 league starts thus far this term, the 27-year-old has directly contributed in 17 goals (9 goals and 8 assists). De Gea would not like those numbers and would have to be in top form to stop the South Korean from scoring.
Regularly scored and created goals for PSV Eindhoven and has quickly settled in the Premier League. The Dutch international has already netted two goals in five league appearances including a wonder goal on his debut vs Champions Manchester City.
The 22-year-old is a versatile talent, who can effectively play anywhere in the attacking third. He is not someone we have played against so he could really surprise us.
Our back-line has largely improved as compared to last season. The signings of Maguire and Wan-Bissaka have helped a lot but the Tottenhem front men have the quality to break any opposition. May the best team win.
